The Solar System and Extrasolar Planets

Tübingen, March 2-6, 2009

Tübingen City
Tübingen is an old and picturesque Swabian town in the Southwest of Germany, 15 miles away from Stuttgart Airport with about 84,000 inhabitants, of whom 23,000 are students. Since its founding in 1477, the university has had a strong impact on the University town of Tübingen and has shaped the town's silhouette in a unique way:
Tübingen combines the flair of a lovingly restored medieval town centre (characteristic small alleys with cobble stone and framework houses) with the colourful hustle and bustle and typical atmosphere of a young and cosmopolitan students' town. The town's famous view from the bridge with the Neckar waterfront and the ancient Hölderlin Tower is a highlight for visitors coming from around the world (Photo).

Numerous sidewalk cafes, wine taverns, arts and crafts shops and restaurants invite visitors to stroll around and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. If you come to Tübingen, you will discover a multifaceted world, a cosmos of the sciences, the arts and the humanities in close proximity. This "Universe of the University of Tübingen" has for centuries contributed through its research and teaching to the shaping of the world.
Come, have a look and enjoy this very special atmosphere of Tübingen!
