Animation of Planet in Disk

Displayed is the evolution of the interaction of a planet with its surounding accretion disk. The calculations are two-dimensional (r-phi) using the vertically averaged surface density (Sigma). The disk is non-self gravitating. Shown is always the evolution of the surface density. The mass ratio planet/star (q) is set to 0.001, and the planet is on a circular orbit (e=0). The time is given in units of the orbit period of the planet.
