Modeling High-Mass Stellar Feedback Workshop

This is the webpage for the Tübingen Spring Workshop 2020 on Modeling High-Mass Stellar Feedback.

Brief Rationale:

High-mass stars impact their natal environment by a variety of radiative and kinematic feedback effects. Jets, outflows, disk winds, radiation forces, HII regions, stellar winds, and supernovae shape the (proto-)stellar surrounding from circumstellar disk to galactic scales. Modeling these multi-scale, multi-physics processes is challenging and a hot topic of the very active research field of computational star, cluster, and galaxy formation and evolution.

The aim of the workshop is to stimulate future research efforts by fleshing out the most important open research questions and outlining the potential tools and methods to address those questions from a theoretical point of view. We anticipate that exchanging our results and views on these topics will initiate new investigations and collaborations. Focussing on the modeling perspective, speakers are encouraged to address numerical details, limitations, and future opportunities and challenges.

Accommodation:

Accommodation is self-organized by the workshop participants.

Here, we list some of the hotels located in or close to Tübingen downtown; the list is not complete and just ordered alphabetically.

Travel:

The closest airport to Tübingen is located in Stuttgart, otherwise you can also reach Frankfurt (Main) and Munich airport by train easily.

Stuttgart airport is connected to Tübingen via an airport shuttle bus (line no. 828; tickets for 7 € per direction); for further information (German only), please see: https://www.bahn.de/regiobusstuttgart/view/angebot/buslinien/airport_sprinter.shtml

For local travel information within Tübingen, please also check here: http://www.tat.physik.uni-tuebingen.de/~msf/EN-MSF/Contact.html

The Workshop venue is in the same building C as our offices, and just one level below them (9th floor).

From Tübingen downtown, you can also decide to walk up the hill to the institute in about half an hour (most beautiful and quiet route goes thru the Canyon „Käsenbachtal“, see e.g. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Käsenbach). If you need a local guide, contact me via email!
